One of the best things you can do for your business is manage your time. We learned that in many cases it really doesn’t matter if you have one hour or ten hours to focus on your business. What matters the most is what you do with those hours. So we like to teach our team to use the “Power Hour”!
Start by looking at your calendar for the month. Think of everything as appointments and schedule in that time. You make an appointment to take your kids to school that takes 30 minutes; You make an appointment to prepare dinner that takes 40 minutes; You make an appointment to do your workout that takes 30 minutes.
Recurring Appointments: Notice how you have regular events that happen on a consistent schedule, like picking up kids, sleep, preparing meals, date night, or monthly bill paying.
Random Appointments: Notice blocks of time you need to handle things that happen occasionally. Visit to the Doctor for a physical. Preparing your taxes. Ordering or sending gifts.
The idea is to first look at your life as it is now. All of it, as best you can. Then notice a pattern of time that seems open or blank. For me it was Saturday mornings, Sunday evenings and Wednesday afternoons. Ideally you would find at least 3-7 power hours a week to start…and then as you get good at using that time effectively, you will want to find reasons to insert more “Power Hours” in exchange for TV time, or Facebook scrolling.
We have discovered that when your scheduled time is organized. You are working from a list with your weekly goals in mind. So would you like a few suggestions for your “To-Do” List to become an effective coach? Check out the Power Hour Activity List below by clicking the link and downloading it.
